How many people would prefer white iPhone 4 to a black one? This is a genuine gadget geek’s question and we should have probably organized a poll for that matter, but this is not the case. Whatever the answer would have been, at least some of you are actually holding out for a white iPhone to come out. And it is a pity that you have to. But thanks to Stuart Hughes, who decided you should have none of that, you can buy a white unlocked 32GB iPhone 4 today for just $20,000. Has he covered it with diamonds? – You are probably asking. Well guess what, yes he has. Another good question though is if diamonds somehow address reception issues stock iPhones have? I’m not sure if this is relevant, but since we are talking smartphones here it probably is. Unfortunately we are not concerned about diamond edition iPhone 4 users having any complains so far, so if you want to make sure you will have to buy it and find out for yourself.

India’s Government Offers $35 Cloud Based Laptop

A prototype tablet computer with a touchscreen is going to be sold for only $35. The government of India is offering up this laptop which will use a web-enabled cloud interface, instead of the normal desktop or laptop hardware used today. The laptop runs on Linux, or some form there of, has no internal storage, but will take a memory card for storage.

The laptop offers a word processor, video conferencing, a Web browser and can be run on solar power. The $35 laptop is very affordable, almost too disposable of a product for these days. The laptop is $65 less than the MIT $100 laptop used in the One Laptop One Child campaign and over $400 less than the new Apple iPad.

Obviously we are missing many of the features that a more expensive models carry, but that is not the point. For a tablet looking laptop at $35, it might just be enough for a childs’ first computer and enough to get them on their way to furthering their knowledge via the internet.

There are very few specs available, in fact, the few that are listed here is about all we know about this thing. Things that make a difference to a buyer like, RAM amount, screen resolution and processor type, are not available yet. Stay tuned for that information and more.

Next Generation iPod Touch To Sport A 5MP Camera And FaceTime

Last year before the Apple’s Rock ‘n’ Roll event occurred there was a rumor that Apple will be releasingthe next generation iPod Touch sporting a 2MP camera at its back. Instead, Apple released the new iPod Nano(s) with a camera. Now rumors have again cropped up that the next generation iPod Touch will be sporting a 5MP camera at its back. The next generation of the device will also be able to recording videos in 720p HD resolution.

The device will also feature an accelerometer and a gyroscope which will help in taking gaming to the next level on the iPod Touch. According to the slides of a presentation from John Lewis, it is also expected that the next generation iPod Touch will feature FaceTime. This also indicates that the device will have a front facing camera. FaceTime allows users to make video calls over Wi-Fi.

Apple is expected to release the next generation of iPods, and iPod Touch in the month of September. The source of this news is John Lewis, who is one of the biggest retailers in Britain.

ASUS Eee Pad & Eee Tablet get announced ahead of COMPUTEX 2010

Just ahead of COMPUTEX 2010 starting tomorrow, June 1st, we have some straight-forward iPad ompetitors appearance to discuss. These are ASUS Eee Pad and ASUS Eee Tablet. The Eee Pad model number EP121 is a 12-inch full-on Windows 7 Home Premium touch sensitive device with Intel Core 2 Duo CULV doing all the processing. It also has a webcam, a couple of connectivity ports I suppose and a dockable physical keyboard. Battery on this one will be going on for 10 hours. 10-inch Eee Pad EP101TC on the other hand runs Windows Embedded Compact 7 so it can very well have less processing power and longer battery life. Anyway, prices on both fit in $Rs.19950 - Rs.24950 range.


There is also ASUS Eee Tablet coming out. Compared to the Pads above this one is much limited in functionality, but still has a 2 megapixel camera, touch sensitive 2450 dpi screen, Micro SD card reader, USB, 10h battery life, all the rest for a rich-featured e-book reader (I’d be careful calling Eee Tablet something else).

Recyclable temporary hard Drive Concept by Cagnina

What does it come to mind when one thinks of an external hard drive, the shape and size that comes to mind is the ugly square boxes with cables and other connecting device. Enter innovation in the form of the new external hard drive concept by Kansas based Argentine Industrial designer Franco Marino Cagnina is cool and funky to say the least. One would be mistaken for it to be a tumbler, but this designer has really carved out the extra ordinary out of the ordinary design and the other encouraging advantage is that it’s recyclable thus environment friendly. So the next time one finds a need to carry data, just take a glassful of it! The company only announced about this concept and no more details are available about this product. hope this will make a evolution in the field of computers. Wireless USB - no wires, same speed

Wires are getting out of fashion really fast these days. Even though they are going along their path of progress, speeding up data transfers step by step and introducing innovative silicon optical fibre technologies, they still don't fit perfectly in modern day lifestyle. That is because they are a burden to any electronic gadget. For example, Bluetooth hands free devices are popular for not having fibers and so is WiFi and Mobile Broadband. However, Japanese enthusiasts have introduced some amazing stuff in this field – Wireless USB kit. Yes, it is a kit, not a single device. WUSB was primarily designed for Notebooks is planned to be released in the mid Decemeber '08, which is about now, so be ready to go for it if you like it, and if you live in Japan.

The manufacturer of the Wireless USB is well known in Japan Ratoc Systems. The full name of their product is Wireless USB Adapter Kit REX-WUSB1. Besides its technical part, for using it a software installation is required. There is not much information about compatibility, but it is sure compatible with Windows XP 32 bit and Windows Vista 32 / 64 bit, running on machines with CardBus PC's card slots. The installation I was previously talking about is a WUSB driver, and the USB Gadget doesn't need anything to be done it, except for plugging it in Wireless USB hub. Its serial number is WD-HUB01. In it its turn, in the computer's or laptop's USB hub fits with above named Wireless USB CardBus PC Card WH-CBA01 and there you go. Now any USB device is acknowledged by the PC without any cables our fibers. It is all up to you how to use it, starting from data backups to printing documents. The WUSB by Ratoc Systems costs 31.500 Yen on the Japanese market.

Intel's new technology - Anti-Theft Protection

Owning a hi-tech device is undoubtedly a big pleasure and joy for most of users. Common mobile phone – a gadget that probably every modern society's member has already got used to. No wander, but the issue is that every piece of technology in our pockets is a bait for a mugger. While smartphones are able to run specialized antivirus and anti-thieft software, notebooks are remaining unprotected basically. Thankfully, Intel has fixed the problem and they will present the salvation scheduled on the summer '09. What they have introduced into a common notebook is a new pack of software that is aimed to protect personal data on a stolen or forgotten notebook, as well a notebook its self. The new Intel technology is called Intel Anti-Theft PC Protection Technology, and I personally thing it will have its future.

You might have probably figured out already what sort of services Intel Anti-Theft PC Protection Technology can provide. First of all, if a laptop gets stolen or forgotten somewhere, to take steps to protect it, the gadget must be equipped with a mobile broadband. Actually Ericsson is currently working very closely with Intel to both: develop the protection service and to make sure that Ericsson Mobile Broadband Modules will be working with it without any collisions. So, this is how the whole thing works: when you want to activate this Intel feature in any case, send then a SMS on a particular number, so it comes on the notebook, interferes with the Protection center and the computer is now blocked and reports its location via GPS. Blocked means that it won't boot until it receives another SMS, confirming that the danger is behind. If it happens so that the lost or stolen laptop was turned on before the blocking SMS was sent, on receiving it, Anti-Theft will delete cryptographic keys so the data on HDD becomes unreadable. It doesn’t say how to recover these key, though, Intel promises it will work. To get a laptop back to normal after blocking, it has to sign in Absolute Monitoring Center successfully.
